FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When will riding lessons be offered?
Length of sessions range between 8-12 weeks.
Each group rider comes once a week for a one-hour lesson, most in a group of 4 riders.
What does a riding lesson consist of?
In a typical class the first 10 to 15 minutes will be allocated for the rider to help the trained volunteers groom and tack the horse. The level of the rider’s Ring participation in this phase in entirely dependent on his or her ability.
The beginning of the mounted lesson will be typically dedicated to stretching and warming up. The instructor will then work on teaching horsemanship skills, usually by first reviewing what had been accomplished in the previous class and going on from there.
The last part of the class will consists of playing a fun, interactive game on horseback. After the riding time is over, a rider will then have the opportunity to help lead the horse back to the barn and help remove the tack.
How much will lessons cost?
A one time $25 registration at time of registration and a one time $25 evaluation fee is due at evaluation. Each weekly lesson is $25 for group lessions, and $50 for private lessons.
Payments are due at the beginning of each month. So, if there are 4 classes in the month of March, then $100 would be due at the beginning of March for a Group Class.
Credit cards are accepted. Invoices are mailed once a month. Scholarship aid may be available. Please contact Caity Wall, Program Director, by email or 407-933-RIDE. Fees charged represent only a fraction of the actual cost of a lesson. We are working to keep our classes affordable to all. Lots of fundraising goes on behind the scenes to make this possible.
